The first generation Honda BR-V was globally launched in 2015 and introduced locally in 2016, its quirky looks were secondary to its superior utility and practicality for minimal financial outlay. The All-New Honda BR-V features a refreshed design that strikes the perfect balance between the characteristics of a luxury 7-seater SUV with the space and utility offered by an MPV. This new design features an updated chassis, suspension, and body rigidity for a more comfortable ride. With brand new dynamic features such as an aggressive and sporty new grille design, an LED Taillight Cluster, and newly designed LED Daytime Running Lights and headlamps.
On the inside, the new BR-V comes with a new cabin layout that’s packed with a host of intuitive features such as the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, and an engine start and stop button. The BR-V Elegance is equipt with Honda’s advanced sensing safety technology package as a standard feature. Features vary amongst the different BR-V variants (Trend manual, Comfort manual, Comfort CVT and Elegance CVT). The Comfort derivative will include a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, an upgraded interior trim, curtain airbags and LED front fog lights.
The top-of-the-line Honda BR-V Elegance comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, a six-speaker sound system, a 4.2-inch TFT driver information cluster, synthetic leather upholstery and a whole array of Honda Sensing Active Safety systems. These include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation System and Lead Car Departure Notification system. Pricing starts at R379 900 for the 1.5 Trend, moving up to R409 900 for the 1.5 Comfort and R434 900 for the Comfort CVT, while the range-topping 1.5 Elegance CVT is R459 900.
In terms of powertrains, the New BV-R features Honda’s latest 1,5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces an output of 89kW at 6600 r/min and 145 N.m of torque at 4300 r/min. The baseline trend model is only available in the six-speed manual gearbox, while the comfort has the option of a six-speed manual or a CVT. The Elegance is exclusively available in the CVT.
